I started using the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) four days ago. Here are some links to catch you up:
Tsh on Simple Mom's blog post.
A very informative site.
I haven't touched my Apricot scrub or moisturizer once since I started cleaning my face with Castor Oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO). My blend is currently half and half Castor Oil and EVOO, though I lean to putting slightly more EVOO in. Every night I massage enough of the blend into my face to coat it, wet my wash cloth with hot tap water, wring it out, and leave it on my face to steam it. When the rag has cooled a bit (about five minutes or so), I gently wipe the excess oil off. There are a couple of spots on my face that tend to dry up a bit, namely the creases on the edges of my nose, and the crease between my chin and lower lip. To help those out during the day (if they need it), I rub a very very small amount of Coconut Oil in, and the next night I add more EVOO to the mix.
To figure out a blend that works for you, start with about half and half. If you find that your skin is drying out more than you'd like, skew toward using more EVOO. If you feel like there is excess oil on your face after you wipe it off, use more Castor Oil. Play with it until you find a blend that works. Also, if your skin changes with hormones or seasons adjust accordingly.
All in all, it's been working very well for me. I'm still playing with the mix a bit, but my skin is incredibly soft, and I previously was always at odds with it. I've heard there are moisturizing oils you can use with your Castor Oil, other than EVOO, but I love the way this has been going for me, so I don't know if I'll ever try them. It's all very cost-effective, especially since you hardly have to use any oil. Any extra I have on my hands when I'm finished massaging it into my face, I simply rub into my hands.
After I've used this for a while, and made it through at least one cycle, I'll update this to reflect how it's been working (or not) for me.
